A Night of Dreams & Reality

One day back in the month of May, while Afiq and I were recording one of our covers (the video's under the Song Covers category), we actually shared this crazy dream publicly.. the possibility of Afiq joining Singapore Idol and actually winning while I stand on that same stage hosting.

Whoever watched that video then probably had a good laugh. Truth was, we meant that as a complete joke. I mean, the odds of that happening in this season's Singapore Idol was virtually impossible.

But deep down, that dream of some day hosting on one of the nation's biggest stage was already etched in my heart and I was determined to work really hard to make that dream a reality. I just never in my craziest fantasy expected it to happen in this season of Singapore Idol..

Tonight, standing on that stage at the indoor stadium infront of 8,000 people was truly a personal testimony of how dreams can really come true. Not just my own, but the dreams of every other person in the Idol family and especially Sezairi.

Some of you might not agree with the results and may have a thing or two to say, but even though we all have our own opinions and the right to voice them.. we should remember that whatever we say will be a reflection of who we are as a person.

Through this Idol journey, i've had the privilege of getting to know Sezairi and Sylvia not just as superstars on screen but intimately for who they truly are. These are two individuals who've worked so hard and have had to brave through extreme criticisms and sacrifices in the road towards their dreams.

To me, the results were secondary because both of them were already winners of life in my eyes. The two of them, along with the rest of the beautiful individuals from the Idol family who've shared and made this journey special together are people i'm inspired by and friends i'm really proud of.

So i'd like to make a public appeal on my blog particularly to the people that I know.. you may not like the show or you might disagree with the results but please don't go so low as to openly insult Sezairi, Sylvia or any of the other Idol contestants. I'll get pissed off with you if you do.

Anyway, tonight was a tremendous night. I was initially trembling more from fear than excitement just moments before stepping on one of the biggest stage yet. But when it was finally over, I stood in the middle of the empty stadium, looked around and just went "wow"

Tonight was a night of dreams and reality. One of the best moment and most amazing thing that has ever happened in my life that i'll remember for as long as I live. On an ending note, i'd like to dedicate tonight and this entry to every one of you who dares to dream and believe..
